Fire Personified: Illustrative Portrait by David Noceti

Here we have our Fire persona. Keep in mind that this was shot in the same spot as the Ice persona and only minutes apart.

We were racing the sun by this point which led to me merging two photos in order to get the single frame that I wanted. In pose one our model totally landed the expression and her hair framed her face in perfectly. After modifying the pose we couldn’t quite get the hair to fall the way it had in the first shot. Ambient light faded fast, the mosquitoes started to descend upon us, and so it was time to high tail it out of there without the perfect single frame. That’s where post comes in.

Pose one where hair, expression, and light on face was correct.

For the next shoot of this caliber I believe I’ll begin with individual portraits and then move to the big shot. I’m kicking myself for not getting better detail shots of the makeup and hair, or just straight on headshots. We’d gotten a late start that day so we headed straight for the big shot then grabbed these portraits on the way back. Now I know for next time, and oh yes, there will be a next time.
